  1. Usernames of Editors (including yours):
  2. mbwoote, Parag R

  3. Author and Title of KB Journal article edited:
  4. Grace Veach, Divination and Mysticism as Rhetoric in the Choral Space

  5. Chapter or Section Edited in Richardson Manuscript:
  6. Chapter 4: Nothing but the effects of those instances of saying

  7. Describe some of the challenges or questions that came up as you edited the KB Journal article.
  8. I had great difficulty in reading this through the first time. I found is was partly a problem of not understanding the content, and the way some of the sentences were constructed. After I realized how to change some of that structure it started to at least become easier to read, if not understand.

  9. Describe some of the challenges or questions that came up as you edited the Richardson chapter or section.
  10. The book chapter was easier to go read through than the journal article, but there was much more of it to squeeze it in between my other responsibilities and classes. I found that the main problem needing to be corrected was that all the ellipses did not have spaces around each period. I then had to find out exactly how to correct it properly.

  11. Name two "rules" that you now know that you didn't know before.
  12. Double hyphens should be represented as an em dash, and that ellipses should have spaces in on each side of the punctuations.

  13. What's one thing you learned about the tools used in technical editing?
  14. I did not even realize that I could track changes in Microsoft word. I can see that tool alone helping me greatly in projects to come, not to mention all the resources I have learned about as well.

  15. Describe one thing you've learned about the practice of technical editng.
  16. I didn't realize how much time goes into the editing of an article or that of a book. I am just beginning to grasp how many things there are to consider when editing and working with the author. I am also new to the idea of having different levels of editing, where each has specific elements to consider.

  17. At the end of your submission notes, provide a link to your "Memo of Understanding" post.
