Week 14-eBook Project

On Tuesday of this week, Patrick and I continued work on our eBook project. We were able to successfully add metadata to our file and validate it in Sigil. The first time we tried to validate our file, we had a few problems with formatting errors but they were not too difficult for us to change. On Thursday, we plan to create our file in mobi format.

Week 14- eBook Project

This week Patrick and I continued to work on our eBook project. On Tuesday when we arrived at class, we realized we had not saved our epub file to dropbox. Since it had only been saved on the desktop, it had been erased from the computer. It was much easier for us to recreate the file, already having been through the steps once before. It also gave each of us a chance to go through the same steps. We still need to add metadata and validate our file in Sigil before the epub file is complete.

Week 13 Project Log- eBook Project

On Tuesday, Patrick O. and I decided to work together on Bazerman's Reference Guide to Writing Across the Curriculum. We reviewed the files in the dropbox folder provided by Dr. Blakesley in the dropbox folder to prepare for the start of the Collaborative eBook Project. We completed the necessary steps on the pdf version of the book provided through dropbox to prepare the file for export. We were able to complete all of the necessary steps and exported our book as an ePub file from InDesign using the appropriate settings. We saved this file to the dropbox folder.

Week 12 Project Log

This week Laura, Cleveland, and I completed our Collaborative Documentation Project. On Tuesday, we used dreamweaver to create a web version of our project. We submitted the HTML and web versions of our project to the appropriate dropbox folder. We also included a folder including the images embedded within our files. On Thursday, we were introduced to the eBook Project in class. We explored some of the basic commands and capabilities of Adobe InDesign.

Week 11- Collaborative Documentation Project

On Tuesday, my group and I performed user testing for another group. By doing the user testing, I realized how much easier being able to view screenshots of the steps made the process. Having the screen shots available made each step clear and easy to follow. I decided to add a few screenshots to our project on how to check the resolution of an image before our documentation would be user tested. On Thursday, another group user tested our documentation project and provided feedback. As a group, we plan to make changes to our project so that each step is more specific.

Week 10- Collaborative Documentation Project

Before class on Thursday, I combined each of our sections into a single document and formatted the sections to be consistent throughout. We have been using facebook to communicate with each other about necessary steps needed to be taken on the project. We have an ongoing chat between all three members, so we can see what the other group members are doing. We also let each group member know when we are currently working on a document so there is no confusion over what is the current draft of our project.

Week 9-Collaborative Documentation Project

During Week 9, my group and I continued to work on our Collaborative Documentation Project. We divided the individual sections among each of the group members. For the steps in the process, Cleveland completed the information for print books, Laura for web, and I completed the steps for ebooks. We still need to add more content to a few sections including more information about copyright use for pictures. We also need to take screenshots of the steps using the computers in the lab. We have been using dropbox to share each of our sections.

Week 8 Project Log- Collaborative Documentation Project

On Tuesday, I met with my collaborators Laura and Cleveland. We selected the topic of preparing images of publication in print, in digital books, and on the Web. We decided on this topic because it would be very easy to divide among three people. Cleveland is going to research information for the print media, Laura is researching the Web media, and I am researching information for preparing images for digital books. We will share our progress and information we have found about our topic via our project logs.
