Installation Project Log

Traditional Printing portion of the Exhibit

For the portion of the exhibit that deals with past printing, I have gathered some items from my father, who owns a print shop, as well as a copy of "How a Book is Made" which walks through the traditional printing process, and a copy of Eisenstein's book. We don't need much for this part of the exhibit, but a few artifacts are needed. I can bring them on the 1st of the month for the actual exhibit, but I might need help getting the objects to the building, if someone wouldn't mind!

Danke.

Vignettes for Group Project

Okay everyone, attached is a list of vignettes that our group has collected that we would like to display for the installation project. Feel free to add others, via comments or whatever and by the end of this week (Friday) I will email them to Dr. Blakesley as a word document.

Group Installation Project Brochure

Attached is a brochure that I have put together. I do not know how to put together a brochure so I put, above each section, on which flap the info should go (I hope that makes sense!)

Dr. Blakesley, I have also emailed this to you.

An addition!

I had another chat with Dr. Field and will be meeting it Prof Haynes sometime next week. Dr. Field said that I (or anyone else) could chat up his 190 class about the project, so would anyone be up for it?? You know you want to!!

Class Project Update

Hey you guys, I have the first concrete pieces of our installation project finished. I will need the two floating frames Dr. B bought--one for the microSD card and one for a photo of the Cooper Library as it is. I've attached the basic visual I'm planning (excuse my art skills!) and the information that will need to be printed. I will discuss sizes and printing with Dr. Blakesley Monday, time permitting. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. We don't have a lot of time left!

SIGNS

Hey guys! We should really make signs soon!! To be most effective, I think they should go up next week... They don't have to be fancy, just the title, place, date, time-basic information. Printing flyers would be the only issue--where/who? I can print on campus for free, but that's only black and white. If I could get a printer on lockdown, I could use colored paper, though.

One more note, what about getting the flyers approved? I believe to post them on campus they need to have an approval...

Idea

Hey,
I just had a notion. We could turn our vignettes into a self-published book that we assemble, design, and submit to some self printer. We could then use this as a display for our event on Dec 1. Let me know what you guys think about this

Printing "relics"

Hey everyone,

My father is a printer and I can get a few printing "relics," so to speak, for our exhibit if the content group was thinking of showcasing some of the physical print model.

Just let me know in advance so I can get the items/know what I can take.

Form Group: Some signage snippets for project

I've uploaded this to the drop site for the group project but I will post it here as well incase the drop site is not checked.

We have gathered some blog posts which muse upon what a book is. We plan on using part of some of these as some signage. If you have any suggestions on which pieces, of if you have anything to add, please leave it in a comment!
